Civil engineer – University of Madrid,

Degree in economics – University of Madrid

Actuary – University of Madrid

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

His professional career within the MAPFRE group started in December 1972 when he joined MAPFRE INDUSTRIAL, S.A.

Since that time he has held the following positions:

1973/74 - Head of the engineering and third-party liability departments.

1975/76- Head of technical department.

1977/81 - General Manager of MAPFRE SERVICIOS DE REASEGURO.

1982/84 - General Manager of MAPFRE REASEGURO, S.A.

1985/89 - General Manager of CORPORACION MAPFRE, Cía. Internacional de Reaseguros, S.A.

1989 - Managing director of CORPORACION MAPFRE.

1990 - Chairman of the executive committee of CORPORACION MAPFRE.

1999 - Executive vice-chairman of CORPORACION MAPFRE.

2001 - Chairman of SISTEMA MAPFRE and MAPFRE MUTUALIDAD

2007 - Chairman and CEO of MAPFRE S.A. and of FUNDACION MAPFRE.

He is also a member of:

The board of directors of the CONSORCIO DE COMPENSACION DE SEGUROS

The board of FUNDACION CAROLINA

The board of CIBELES

He has published various articles relating to the Spanish and International world of insurance and reinsurance.

He has been a speaker at various seminars and conferences, of special note being:

I.I.S. (INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE SOCIETY) in the cities of Tokyo (1993) and Mexico (1997).

FIDES (FEDERACION INTERAMERICANA DE EMPRESAS DE SEGUROS
