Ms. Keenan, head of Economic and Industry Research at A.M. Best Company, has been with A.M. Best for 12 years.   Her responsibilities include the creation and distribution of industry research and economic analysis in support of Best’s ratings and for the purposes of publication.  Recent and ongoing studies released by her team, in cooperation with ratings analysts, include microinsurance, US mutual insurance industry, emerging markets and insurance industry development, trends in catastrophe bonds, reinsurance capacity and reinvestment risk.

 

Ms. Keenan is Chairperson of the Market Analysis and Research Committee which identifies, prioritizes and oversees analytical research and commentary that is published by AM Best Company. 

 

During her time at A.M. Best, she held the position of head of country risk analysis, during which time she and her team developed A.M. Best’s approach to country risk analysis, which assesses the risk insurers encounter when operating in the over 100 domiciles that impact companies rated by A.M. Best.  Country risk is integrated into all ratings analysis.

 

Prior to joining AM Best, Ms. Keenan was US Economic Analyst at Toyota Motor North America in New York City and Analyst at International Technology and Trade Associates in Washington, DC. She holds a Masters degree from American University in International Economic Policy and a Bachelor's degree from York College in International Studies.  Ms. Keenan is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Economics from Temple University.
